If you are interested in becoming more involved in the Club Business and Activities or joining one of the Committees listed below, please contact Vicki Barber, Club President at vlbarber1@gmail.com, or any of the Club Officers to discuss your participation. We welcome your assistance and support in all of the Club’s Endeavors.
Program Committee: The Program Committee identifies and schedules speakers for our monthly meetings. Speakers include leaders in our local community, candidates at local, state, and national levels, and individuals who can educate and inspire us on Democratic issues.
Social Committee: Our Club is known for its variety of social activities, including regularly scheduled weekly and monthly breakfasts and luncheons, game nights, dinner dances, trips, theater events, book clubs, picnics, concerts, and events held for our new members and for members of our Singles’ group.
Community Outreach: The Club collects donations and raises funds for a range of local organizations that support our community, including the Homeless Youth Connection, Phoenix Rescue Mission, Aqua Fria Food and Clothing Bank, Hope’s Closet, Dress for Success, Maricopa County Humane Society, Kare Bears, and others.
Membership: The Membership Committee recruits and welcomes new members to the Club. The Committee collects the membership forms and ensures that members receive badges, as well as helping to introduce new members to other long-time members of the Club. In addition, the Membership Committee works with the treasurer to keep the membership list current and contacts members who have lapsed on payment of annual dues.
Communication: It is critical that Club members receive timely communication on Club activities, in addition to other activities and events that would be of interest to members of the Democratic Club. A significant number of communication strategies are used, such as e-mails, Facebook, the PC Post, posting of flyers, Website, and others.
Political: The Club works with and for candidates and issues by phone, text, canvassing, registering voters, and informing voters of important issues. We coordinate with our fellow West side Democratic Clubs, our Legislative District 29, the Maricopa County Democratic Party, the AZ Democratic Party, and other political and secular organizations. In addition, the Political Committee is charged with keeping our members informed of opportunities for political engagement.
